All tourists are required to purchase travel insurance through Tanzania National Insurance Corporation (or if arriving in Zanzibar first through Zanzibar Insurance Corporation). This is required regardless if you have other insurance coverage. The price is $44 USD/person ( $22/child ages 3-17 and no charge for children under 3 years old). The insurance is valid for 92 days including multiple entries into the country. This can be purchased online before travel or upon arrival (we anticipate a long queue for this option). The coverage is valid for emergency medical treatment, medical evacuation, repatriation of remains, and baggage loss. The following are exempt: Tanzanian residents, Diplomats, Transit passengers, Diaspora, Valid work/resident permit holders, and Residents of EAC or SADC partner states.
